Forecast Academy is a 4-day intensive for recording artists, music producers, and audio engineers to develop their skills, gain music industry insight, and collaborate with one another. Powered by Forecast Recordings and IO Academy, students will have access to music industry leaders as instructors and mentors to guide their artistic growth.
Through their selected intensive track, students will hone their craft through tailored curriculum from industry professionals and will be thoughtfully matched with other students to create their own work to share with the world. Our accomplished instructors and mentors will share their experiences and work one-on-one with students to strengthen their work.
Forecast Academy is hosted at Forecast Recordings, an inspired, historically restored multi-room facility including a professional recording studio and Culture Lab. Workstations are outfitted for each cohort to collaborate, providing each student space and resources to create their music.
We're partnering with Output and Splice, so students will leave Forecast Academy not only with practical skills and their own original work, but also with software and tools used by the best in the industry.
Led by Forecast's director Hollis Wong-Wear, this track is for those wanting to strengthen their recording artistry, songwriting, & music industry acumen.
Hollis is a songwriter, musician, speaker, spoken word artist, and creative generator who lives between Los Angeles and Seattle, WA. She is the lead vocalist of the electronic R&B trio The Flavr Blue, and was GRAMMY nominated for Album of the Year for her vocal performance of “White Walls” on The Heist by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Having collaborated with numerous producers and singers, Hollis guides aspiring recording artists and songwriters through creative writing exercises and shares her insight into how to best navigate and optimize their studio experience.
Led by Adam Johan of IO Music Academy, this track is for individuals wanting to strengthen their skills and accelerate their workflow in electronic music production. Students will have access to sounds from Splice and Output.
Adam is an Ableton expert and the Director of Education at IO Music Academy in Hollywood. As an experienced music producer, DJ, and instructor, Adam equips students with the right tools to tap into their individual creativity, musicality, and flow.
Hosted by by Tom Kahre, an Avid-Certified Pro Tools expert instructor, our engineering track focuses on teaching young engineers the ins & outs of Pro Tools, the industry standard software in film, television, music and production. This track will teach budding engineers to record the best sound with proper mic technique and to reinforce a strong work flow for an efficient session with clients.
Tom Kahre is a highly sought after recording engineer & producer based out of Los Angeles, CA with a keen focus on vocal recording and production. He is a 5 time Grammy nominated platinum selling engineer with a B.A. in Music from Florida State University.
