Vol. 3: Fighting the Good Fight!

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

By now we are all getting used to the sudden new reality that has drastically upended our lives. As we adjust to what it means to work within remote realms for the foreseeable future, we are all quickly figuring out ways to transition everything toward digital platforms. Even in middle of all of this rapid change, however, one thing remains constant: human creativity. Our ingenuity is on overdrive right now because it absolutely needs to be. And in some ways, we are ironically becoming closer than ever before, checking in with each other via phone and video chats, supporting each other through online communities across countless social media platforms, and tuning in to virtual livestreams. So while we are all staying at home for the time being, let's use this opportunity to explore the whole universe of digital communication platforms that we are lucky enough to have (quite literally) at our fingertips. ;)

Weekly Wednesday LUNCHSTREAMS Live!

Last week we launched our first ever GreatCo LunchStream, and it was so delicious we decided to order it again! Only this time maybe we should go without so much cheese...
>.<  In all seriousness, though, the LunchStream was a great way to bring us together in a relaxed, fun, and supportive environment. Join us every
Wednesday at 12pm PST as we virtually share not only our home-coooked or takeout meals but also our stories, unique experiences, and ideas during this crazy chapter of our lives. Be sure to email us at RSVP@ingreat.co and we'll send you the link to join! And on second thought, bring extra cheese!

Time. Moments like these remind us how precious it is. After all, GreatCo' ethos is just that:  the most important investment we have is time. To explore more, we asked a couple members on our team the following:
  • Whatcha watchin'?
  • What have you been cooking and/or ordering?
  • What are you doing to stay active?
Hello to Denise! Our super savvy biz dev manager and all things social savant. Denise has been taking this opportunity to invest in her overall health. Home workouts include bands, kettle bell, dumbbells and jumprope, and she's even found time to sometimes do the workouts twice a day! She's been eating mostly healthy plant-based foods as well, but that may or may not have been due to the short supply in meat products over the past week... To add to the mix, she has been enjoying watching reruns of the NBA's games. Go Lakers!

Say hi to Carl! GreatCo's founder and fearless leader, Carl Choi has been a beacon of inspiration and hope during these times. As he continues the quest of creating meaningful shared experiences in whatever shape or form that may need to be, he spends his days running at least one 3-mile loop to stay active. He enjoys his wife's amazing healthy food prep and has been binge watching The Walking Dead, Season 10, which seems eerily appropriate these days... Just Kidding. We haven't seen any zombies yet.
Want to share how you've been investing your time? Join us for the Weekly Wednesday LunchStreams!
We here at GreatCo are personally surrounded by a community of health professionals, and they are passionate about the fight against COVID-19. However, as the US struggles to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, and as cases continue to rise, healthcare workers on the front lines are facing an unprecedented shortage of protective supplies. We’re sure many of you also have family, friends, and loved ones on the front lines with high exposure to this epidemic and many of you, like us at GreatCo, are looking for ways to fight the good fight. For those problem-solvers who are looking to join the war, one of our most urgent tasks is sourcing N95 masks for our local hospitals here in Southern California. Many hospitals are already down to their last box if not completely out.

We have located several suppliers who are able to offer masks at a reasonable price, and we are collecting a list of individuals who can provide donations that are vital to purchasing these masks. If you or someone you know may be interested in contributing any dollar amount to help buy these masks, please sign up here for our Contributor’s List. On behalf of the greater Healthcare Worker Community, family, and friends, you have our eternal gratitude.

Shoutout to the amazingly talented @kincept for the above graphic and credit to J. Howard Miller for the original artwork.
The transition to digital platforms is underway. Check out the Social Distancing Festival, an online platform featuring LiveStreams and showcasing artists from all over the world!
Similarly, the Stay at Home Fest is a central hub for music and performance events now happening online. Check out their calendar of online events here, where you can also sign up to receive updates about upcoming virtual events or even submit your own event. As the team at Stay at Home Fest says, "Stay Home. But Stay Together."
Do you have an online event or resource that you would like to share? Click here to see and/or contribute to an open source database of online theatre and performance events!
Are you able to assist affected artists by donating? LEIA (League of Experiential and Immersive Artists) has created a GoFundMe, so you can help! You can give here.
