Vol. 4: Self-Discovery Within the Quarantine

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

It's March 31st, only 2 weeks since major stay-at-home orders were issued in California. Yet it seems like an eternity ago when life was relatively normal. While the world has come to a standstill, however, there is a silver lining that shines within our homes and within our hearts: an opportunity for self-growth and self-discovery. What better time than now to go inward and reassess what is most important in our lives? And in the process of inward reflection, perhaps we will discover aspects of ourselves that we never realized before. Or better yet, perhaps we will see our inner strengths come to light brighter than ever before. Perhaps now, with quiet stillness, we can better understand how all of the puzzle pieces of our identity come together to create the authentic picture of ourselves that was always there, even when we couldn't see it until now.

Looking behind I am filled with gratitude. Looking forward, I am filled with vision. Looking upwards, I am filled with strength, looking within, I discover peace.

Weekly Wednesday LUNCHSTREAMS Live!

Our LunchStreams have been sizzlin' with delicious food, good conversation, and great connection! Last week some of the team from the Bayha Group joined the LunchStream, and they shared their challenges and triumphs in transitioning their teen internships program in Downey, CA to a digital platform. As education across the world is facing similar challenges in adapting to virtual formats, they provided an interesting and informative perspective into the education realm at this time. Learn more about the Bayha Group here.

Join us this week as we kick it up a notch with Happy Hour! (Because, let's face it, every hour is happy hour in Quarantine!) Get your favorite alcohols ready as Denise guides us through mixing drinks with home ingredients!

So grab your glasses and let's cheers each other this Wednesday at 12pm PST as we virtually share not only our drinks and meals, but also our stories, unique experiences, and ideas during this crazy chapter of our lives. Be sure to email us at RSVP@ingreat.co and we'll send you the link to join!
Time. Moments like these remind us how precious it is. After all, GreatCo's ethos is just that:  the most important investment we have is time. This week, we continue to explore how members on our team are investing their time via the following:
  • Who is your favorite music artist or favorite track on repeat lately?
  • What's your favorite activity to do right now? (Can be anything, go wild!)
  • Whatcha eatin? Any favorite recipes?
What's up Jacob! California native and downtown LA resident, Jacob is no stranger to staying strong during times of hardship. As a Biz Dev Manager specializing in the Immersive World, Jacob has a pulse on all of the newest and exciting events within the industry. Nowadays, he shines as a bright paragon of knowledge and hope, as he provides practical and critical information of how the industry is transitioning to digital platforms and what steps we all can take to weather this storm. Lately he's been religiously playing Dolly Parton, listening to her entire 90 album collection in tandem with RadioLab's audio series on her! Otherwise, he's found himself obsessing  over 1990's gaming communities, diving back into his middle school days via the Age of Empires II tournament on Twitch. Every morning, he enjoys the same breakfast: eggs, bacon, and veggies. But recently he discovered pork belly at the Asian market next door, so lately he's been swapping out the bacon for pork belly!
Aloha Ali! Our Newsletter Writer, Ali comes from a diverse background, ranging from immersive performing to production management to marine science. During this time of quarantine, she has been thankful for the opportunity to take the time to dance more. Dancing in her makeshift home dance studio, she has been especially obsessing over the newest Ilan Bluestone live set on A State of Trance 950. To Ali, trance music has always provided a sense of stability and peace, particularly during times of hardship. A New Mexico native, she has been savoring her last batch of homemade New Mexico red chile. Being able to eat a homemade enchilada with beans, cheese, fried eggs, and red chile, feels like a little slice of heaven and home away from home.

Fighting the Good Fight Update

With the help of our community, not only did we hit our goal of raising enough funds for the initial 10,000 KN95 masks, we were able to raise an additional $8000 to acquire a total of 14,000 masks! We will be picking up these masks from the warehouse and distributing them DIRECTLY to ER nurses and doctors.

Many hospital administrations are very strictly rationing masks and other protective gear due to limited supply. They are unable to provide ANY masks for their healthcare workers unless the patients with whom they have been working test positive for COVID-19. The CDC has also lowered standards for what is needed as protective gear, again as a response to limited supply. Unfortunately, these circumstances have led to many healthcare workers feeling woefully unprotected in addition to being completely exhausted from working back to back shifts. And tensions are growing.

So we’re not stopping here. As a next step, we’re continuing to raise funds to purchase 25k surgical masks at reasonable costs to enable our Healthcare Worker Heroes to continue to fight the good fight. Click here if you would like to join the cause!
